Description:
Small, compact and arboreal flycatcher with small bill. Male has deep blue upperparts and sides of neck/breast, and white underparts. Female has greyish-brown upperparts and whitish underparts, with greyish patches on sides of breast, some have blue cast to uppertail-coverts and tail.
Distribution:
Rare summer visitor to extreme southern parts of Diamer and Astore districts. Breeds in broadleaf forest, also in pine forests, between 1800m and 3200m; winters in open deciduous woodland, groves, gardens and orchards.
Behavior:
Actively forages in middle to upper canopy of forest trees, keeping within foliage and rarely in open; occasionally forages at lower levels and on ground. Flicks or raises tail and fluffs out breast feathers when alarmed. Diet includes small invertebrates, e.g. dipteran flies, aphids, moths and beetles.
